Since Better Homes & Gardens was my sponsor, I feel like it's only appropriate that I share my running adventure on our blog. Here's my 2017 50 mile Buffalo Run on Antelope Island play by play.
We've been hosting a Dave Ramsey class every Thursday for the past 4 weeks. What a great group. Last week was credit card night. The group got real! Several shredded credit cards right then and there. Way to go crew! Anytime someone gets out of their comfort zone, sacrifices and strives to better themselves I'm impressed.
I'm committed to running my first 50k this coming March. Training has been brutal with the harsh winter that we've had. Rain, sleet, or snow hasn't stopped us yet although I'm getting really tired of it. Where's the sun! Last week we ran 4 miles Monday, 4 miles Tuesday, 6 miles Wednesday, then 16 miles Friday and 10 miles Saturday. Two weeks ago we were running in -3 temperatures at 5am. It's been a beautiful, horrible, wonderful, and terrible experience and the tougher runs are coming up this month. I'm determined.
It was a very merry Christmas thanks to Mrs. Clause and all her incredible work. She made Christmas a very magical day. Above Anna is trying to explain to Santa what an American Girl Doll Horse is. She was very very concerned that Santa didn't get it.
I finally having a skiing buddy. We stick to greens and blues but she's officially good enough to enjoy the Greatest Snow on Earth. And what a year of snow this has been.
and now we have eggs...lots of eggs. We get between 4-5 eggs a day so if you're dying for fresh organic delicious eggs, join the willis group family and we'll hook you up. 😁🐓🐓🐓🐣
I went to an alternative hippy elementary school growing up where the kids called the teachers by their first name, we had no homework, and the kids were in charge of caring for a farm which had ducks, lots of vegetables, bunnies, a goat, and chickens. Lots of chickens. I hated those chickens. They made a mess and it always smelled. Well, guess what we have now...that's right, chickens. Jennifer, Jane, Beatrice, Susan, Rachel, and Vader. I bet you can guess which one I got to name.
They've been living in our backyard for the past three months making a mess however this time I find them oddly therapeutic. As a kid I didn't appreciate their quirky habits and their hilarious behaviors. They're like gossipy old ladies who enjoy making the biggest fuss over the smallest thing. They devour any leftovers we give them including the baskets full of left over squash and zucchini which seemed to be the only vegetable we excel at growing and the only vegetables I find unappealing. The chickens stay close to their coop which has given me greater appreciation for "why did the chicken cross the road" jokes.
We purchased 6 chicks thinking one or two would turn out to be a male which we'd have to get rid of...nope. So we have an excessive number of chickens now which means we will be having an excess number of eggs when they start laying. All I know is that they better be darn good eggs. And don't be surprised when you receive a dozen eggs wrapped with a pretty bow at the closing table with a note saying congratulations on the purchase of your new home. I may even include a home grown squash or zucchini at closing as well.
As most of you know we moved a few months back into an incredible neighborhood in Pleasant Grove. As a proud Californian by birth, if you had told me growing up that I'd end up living in Pleasant Grove Utah I would've said impossible. Turns out Utah and Pleasant Grove aren't so bad after all. Check out this killer party my neighborhood puts on every year on the 24th of July. I figure one of these days I might actually sell a home or two in the neighborhood and I better be ready. How do you communicate the value of your incredible neighborhood? With video! Check out this little video I put together to show off what an incredible neighborhood it is. If one day you think you'll be asking me to list your home and your neighborhood has some unique feature or event that would exhibit better on video, let me know. I'll make sure we get it on film when the event occurs so that a year or two down the road when the time does come for you to sell your home, we'll be ready to market it the Better Homes & Gardens Way.
For date night we went to the new Slab Pizza joint in Lehi. Between the two of us we tried four slices...vegi, three meat, Thai, and buffalo Wing. The Thai and the buffalo were our favorites by far. The meat and vegi weren't anything special. The unique flavors definitely seem the way to go. Does anyone have a favorite that they recommend? I want to go again but I'm hoping for strong recommendation. What's the best?
